By sending your job application to us, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to the following and you provide affirmative consent to the processing of your personal data as described below. If you do not agree with the statements below, then you will not be able to go any further with your application and should not submit any personal data.
Any false statements or misrepresentations provided during the course of your application may result in the discontinuation of your application process, withdrawal of a job offer, or the termination of your employment, if the false statements or misrepresentations are discovered after you have commenced employment.
Jefferies may us information about you that is provided in your job application and/or subsequently is provided to us for recruitment and, if your application is successful, employment purposes. The types of personal data that we may process as part of this application are your name, contact information, employment history, education history, regulatory information and criminal history. We will keep your information on file according to the period of time you specify in your application and/or as required by applicable law, even if you are not hired. Jefferies will use any retained information to determine your qualifications for other vacancies and/or for statistical purposes such as evaluation of our recruitment processes.
Your information will be controlled and processed by the Company to the extent we consider it necessary as part of the application process.
As Jefferies is a multinational corporation, if you are submitting an application from outside of the U.S., your information may also be processed by the Company based in the US. The Company will not disclose personal information about you to any other third party (other than specified herein) unless required to do so by law or regulators and will comply with all applicable local laws. You understand that in some locations, the information you submit may not be subject to the same legal protection as is mandated in your home country and that the laws regarding privacy, data protection, and confidentiality of personal information may not be accorded the same protection as in your home country. The Company will ensure that any personal data it transfers will be handled in accordance with good practice and any relevant law and/or regulations.
Although the Company takes reasonable steps to ensure the security of information in its possession, you acknowledge that the internet is an open network and transmission of data over the internet is not controlled by the Company. We have implemented technologies and security processes to protect the stored personal information from unauthorized access, improper use, unlawful or accidental destruction and accidental loss. You acknowledge that you voluntarily are submitting all information you provide to Jefferies.

For those individuals residing within California, you have a number of statutory rights, including the following:
(1) The right to notice that personal information will be collected. You have the right to request certain information about our collection and use of consumers’ personal information over the past 12 months. The categories of information that we have collected from job applicants in the past 12 months, and may collect from you, are listed below along with the general sources of that information, the purposes for which we collect it, and types of third parties to whom we have disclosed it. We update this information at least once every 12 months.
- Identifiers, such as a name, postal or email address, IP address, account name, Social Security number, driver’s license number, or passport number. We collect this category of information from you as part of your application. The purposes for which we collect this information from job applicants are to determine eligibility for employment. In the past twelve months, we may have disclosed information in this category to: service providers (e.g., document processors, IT support); our affiliates for the purpose of determining whether you are a candidate for other job opportunities
- Personal information categories are listed in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e). We collect this category of information from you as part of your application. The purposes for which we collect this information from job applicants are to process your application, verify your employment history, verify your educational background, verify your industry history and verify your criminal history. In the past twelve months, we may have disclosed information in this category internally to Jefferies HR.
- Protected classification characteristics under California or federal law, such as age, race, ancestry, citizenship, religion, marital status, medical condition, gender identity or expression, pregnancy or childbirth, sexual orientation, veteran or military status, or genetic information. We collect this category of information from you as part of your application. The purposes for which we collect this information from job applicants are to process your application, provide accommodation to applicants with disabilities and measure our diversity initiatives. In the past twelve months, we may have disclosed information in this category to internally to Jefferies HR.
- Biometric information, such as fingerprints, faceprints, voiceprints, or other physical patterns, and sleep, health, or exercise data. We collect this category of information from you as part of your application. The purposes for which we collect this information from job applicants are to process your application. In the past twelve months, we may have disclosed information in this category to internally to Jefferies HR.
- Professional or employment-related information, such as a job history or performance evaluations. We collect this category of information from you as part of your application. The purposes for which we collect this information from job applicants are to process your application, verify your employment history. In the past twelve months, we may have disclosed information in this category to internally to Jefferies HR.
- Non-public education information, such as grades, transcripts, student financial information, or disciplinary records. We collect this category of information from you as part of your application. The purposes for which we collect this information from job applicants are process your application, verify your education history and securities industry experience. In the past twelve months, we may have disclosed information in this category to internally to Jefferies HR.
- Inferences drawn from other personal information, such as a profile reflecting a person’s preferences, characteristics, trends, predispositions, behavior, attitudes, intelligence, abilities, or aptitudes. We collect this category of information from you as part of your application. The purposes for which we collect this information from job applicants are to process your application, consider you for other jobs that might interest you. In the past twelve months, we may have disclosed information in this category to internally to Jefferies Human Resources Department (“HR”).
(2) The right to know what personal information has been collected, sold, or disclosed for a business purpose, and to whom it was sold or disclosed. You have the right to request that we disclose what personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months.
- Once we receive and confirm your verifiable request, we may disclose to you: (1) The categories of personal information we’ve collected about you; (2) The categories of sources for the personal information we’ve collected about you; (3) Our business or commercial purpose for collecting and/or selling that personal information; (4) The categories of third parties with whom we’ve shared that personal information; (5) The specific pieces of personal information we’ve collected about you; and (6) If we sold or disclosed your personal information for a business purpose, two separate lists disclosing: (i) all sales of your personal information, identifying the categories of personal information that were sold and the categories of each third party recipient who purchased that information; and (ii) all disclosures of your personal information for a business purpose, identifying the categories of personal information that were disclosed and the categories of each third party recipient who obtained that information.
(3) The right to opt-out of the sale of personal information.
(4) The right to have your personal information deleted.
(5) The right to non-discrimination as a result of exercising these rights.
Only residents of the State of California may exercise these rights. In order to protect your personal information, we are required to verify that any person making a request under this section is in fact you or your authorized agent. In order to verify the identity of the person making a request, we may ask you or your agent to provide the following information: Full Name; Email Address; Mail Address; Phone Number. We will use this information only for the purposes of verifying that your request is authentic.
Once we receive your request, we will respond within 10 days and inform you if we need any more information from you. We will provide a response to your request within 45 days, or within 90 days if your request is complicated or difficult to verify.
