In June 2009, Jefferies was designated as a Primary Dealer by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) and is one of 20 primary dealers authorized to act as a counterparty to the FRBNY in its open market operations, participating directly in Treasury auctions and providing market information and analysis to the trading desks at the FRBNY.

The Jefferies US Treasury and Agency Group is comprised of over 50 sales and trading professionals globally. We are an active participant in all Treasury auctions, Treasury purchases, Federal Reserve Open market operations, and an important provider of secondary market liquidity in the Treasury market.

Jefferies is also a significant underwriter of debt issued by US Government Agencies, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Federal Farm Credit, Federal Home Loan Bank, and Farmer Mac. We also maintain inventory and make active secondary markets in all US Government Agency debt, FDIC Guaranteed bank debt, securities issued by Supranationals, Investment Grade debt issued by sovereigns and their agencies, and Covered Bonds. The types of securities we inventory and trade include Discount Notes, Bullet Securities, Callable Securities, FRNs, and Structured Notes.

The Jefferies Repo Trading and Sales team is comprised of seasoned individuals with extensive knowledge and experience in all Fixed Income products. The desk is a participant in the daily Federal Reserve Securities Lending Program and Open Market Operations. In addition to providing firm liquidity, the desk maintains an active match book to facilitate customer financing needs.

The European Rates Trading Desk consists of over 20 professionals based in London supported by first class primary & secondary trading capabilities and strong relationships with established issuers and investors. In addition to Jefferies being designated a primary dealer in the US, the firm has also been appointed a member of the Federal Republic of Germany's bidding group.
