JEFFERIES FURTHER EXPANDS HEALTHCARE INVESTMENT BANKING

Adds Senior Biopharmaceutical Professional to Healthcare Team in San Francisco

NEW YORK, February 2, 2010 – Jefferies announced today the hiring of Michael Brinkman in a further expansion of its Global Healthcare Investment Banking Group. Mr. Brinkman joins as a Managing Director focusing on biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and will be based in San Francisco.

Mr. Brinkman joins Jefferies with 16 years of healthcare investment banking experience, predominately focused on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors, including two years as a Managing Director with Piper Jaffray and 14 years at CIBC World Markets where he was a Managing Director.
