JEFFERIES ADDS TO GLOBAL EMERGING MARKETS TEAM

Peter Timpson Joins in London to Cover Europe, the Middle East and Africa

LONDON and NEW YORK, 15 December 2009 – Jefferies today announced the appointment of Peter Timpson as a Senior Vice President for Emerging Markets Trading. He will focus on Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, as well as Africa, and is based in London.

Earlier this month, Jefferies announced the appointment of Verena Mladek as a Senior Vice President for Emerging Markets Sales focused on German-speaking Europe. This announcement further demonstrates Jefferies' growing strength in fixed income, where the Firm now has more than 400 professionals globally who are focused on the sales and trading of investment grade corporate bonds, high yield bonds, government and agency securities, repo finance, mortgage- and asset-backed securities, municipal bonds, whole loans, leveraged loans, distressed securities and emerging market debt.

Mr. Timpson joins Jefferies from Dresdner Kleinwort, where he worked for ten years and was Head of Emerging Markets External Debt Trading. Previously, he worked at Morgan Grenfell / Deutsche Bank in Fixed Income Emerging Markets Trading.
