JEFFERIES EXPANDS GLOBAL HEALTHCARE EFFORT

Sage Kelly To Head Healthcare Investment Banking Sector Team

NEW YORK, July 21, 2009 -- Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), announced today that the firm is significantly expanding its global healthcare investment banking effort with over 35 experienced professionals, including 16 managing directors and senior vice presidents across the U.S., Europe and Asia, joining Jefferies this Summer. Jefferies also announced that as part of this expansion, Sage N. Kelly has joined the firm as Head of Healthcare Investment Banking.

Mr. Kelly has over 17 years of investment banking experience. Prior to joining Jefferies, he served as a Managing Director at UBS Securities LLC for more than 10 years. Previously, Mr. Kelly was an investment banker at Salomon Smith Barney.
