JEFFERIES COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF DEPFA FIRST ALBANY MUNICIPAL SECURITIES BUSINESS

NEW YORK, March 30, 2009 -- Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF) today announced the completion of its previously announced acquisition of Depfa First Albany Securities LLC, from DEPFA Bank plc. Now part of Jefferies’ Fixed Income Department, the Jefferies Municipal Securities Group is a leading New York City-based municipal securities business that provides integrated investment banking, advisory, and sales and trading services.

More than 70 employees have joined Jefferies as a result of the acquisition, including Kenneth D. Gibbs, who becomes President of Jefferies Municipal Securities Group, and Neil J. Flanagan, who will head the group’s Public Finance Department. The acquisition allows Jefferies to enter the municipals market in a comprehensive way, and is another step in the overall strengthening of Jefferies’ Fixed Income Department, which now totals nearly 250 employees.
