NEW YORK, October 22, 2008 -- Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced that Jason Roelke has joined as a Managing Director and Head of Derivative Sales. Mr. Roelke will focus on the sale of equity derivative securities, including listed options, ETFs and OTC options and swaps, and will identify and cover strategic partners and clients as part of the Firm’s continued expansion in equity financial products.
“With his strong experience in the sales and trading of derivative products, Jason Roelke is an important component in the continued build-out of our equity sales and trading platform and will further extend the scope of our equity capabilities,” commented Jason Griffith, Head of Global Equities at Jefferies.

The expansion of Jefferies’ derivatives group and other financial products, including prime brokerage and securities finance, is key to the continued growth and diversification of the Firm’s equity sales and trading platform. Jefferies’ overall equities effort consists of more than 760 professionals globally, including the recent addition of over 25 equity sales, sales-trading, trading and research professionals in London and Frankfurt. Additionally, the Firm recently ranked #1 in both Traditional Execution and Trading Expertise & Market Knowledge in a 2008 survey of hedge funds by Alpha Magazine, an Institutional Investor publication.
Mr. Roelke has more than 13 years of experience in derivatives sales and joins Jefferies from Lehman Brothers, where he was a senior vice president in Liquid Market Sales, specializing in Equity Derivatives. Prior to that, he worked in Equity Derivatives at Citigroup. Mr. Roelke received a BA in English from Dartmouth College.
