JEFFERIES ENHANCES EMERGING MARKETS SALES AND TRADING EFFORT

Firm Continues Expansion Of Fixed Income Platform

NEW YORK, September 11, 2008 -- Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced the expansion of the Firm’s emerging markets fixed income sales and trading unit. Jefferies has recently added four senior professionals to its existing effort in this regard, including Leo Gazal, Mike Bellero and Ken Lockyer as senior salespeople based in New York, and John Gibbens as a senior trader in London.

Mr. Gazal has more than 15 years of emerging market bond sales experience and joins the Firm from Goldman Sachs, where he was a vice president and managed that firm’s Latin American corporate trading efforts. Messrs. Lockyer and Bellero each have more than 20 years of experience in emerging market bond sales and were most recently senior vice presidents at Bear Stearns, where they spent 17 years and 7 years respectively. Mr. Gibbens was most recently a managing director and senior trader at ABN AMRO, and has more than 18 years of emerging markets trading experience.

“The knowledge, experience and relationships of these seasoned professionals will enhance our emerging markets capabilities and help to continue the expansion of our Firm’s fixed income platform,” commented Tim Cronin, Head of the Fixed Income Division at Jefferies. ”Challenging market conditions and the retrenching of key industry players have created a unique opportunity to expand Jefferies’ overall fixed income offering.”

In a joint statement, Charles Cortellesi and Erich Bauer-Rowe, co-heads of Jefferies emerging markets business, added, “We are excited to welcome these outstanding professionals to the Jefferies team as they enhance our offering to clients and will be a key part of our continued growth.”

Jefferies’ global fixed income effort consists of more than 150 professionals focused on the sales and trading of corporate bonds, US government agency securities, mortgage-backed securities, municipal bonds and emerging markets debt. In addition to these emerging markets hires, the Firm has added during the past six months more than 20 experienced mortgage trading professionals in an ongoing expansion of sales and trading capabilities for fixed income securities.
