LONDON and NEW YORK, 28 August 2007 -- Jefferies International Limited, the UK subsidiary of US-based Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE: JEF), today announced the hiring of Simon Eagles as Director of Equity-linked Origination and Structured Products. Mr. Eagles has nearly 20 years of experience at firms including WestLB Panmure, HSBC and RP&C International, where he was most recently a director focused on the origination, structuring, execution and distribution of equity-linked private placements.
Mr. Eagles will be responsible for the origination, syndication, documentation and placement of structured products and will build the firm’s structured products offering and capabilities. His appointment represents a further strengthening of Jefferies’ international capital markets effort. The Firm has made significant inroads in underwriting and placements for companies in Europe, India and China over the past few years, particularly in convertible issues.
The creation of this role is part of Jefferies’ ongoing expansion in Europe and follows the recent opening of the firm's first office in Germany with 13 investment professionals, the acquisitions of LongAcre Partners, a leading, London-based corporate advisory firm focused on the European media and online sector, and the acquisition of the Putnam Lovell investment banking business, a leading adviser to the financial services sector.
Prior to his role as a Director at RP&C International, Mr. Eagles was Head of Convertible Origination at WestLB Panmure and Head of Convertible Origination and Execution at HSBC Investment Bank Plc. As an investment banker, Mr. Eagles has worked on a myriad of capital markets transactions in a range of industries. Companies include Venture Production, Subex, Welspun, Vanco Energy, Preussag, National Grid, Lukoil and Ashanti.
