NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 2004--Jefferies & Company, Inc., the principal operating subsidiary of Jefferies Group, Inc. (NYSE:JEF), today announced the addition of Brett M. Levy as a Senior Research Analyst, Managing Director, and Co-Director of High Yield Research. Mr. Levy will cover the metals sector as well as co-manage the firm's high yield research effort with Robert J. Welch. Jefferies' current Director of High Yield Research, Mark C. Neuner, will retire at the end of the year.
The addition of Mr. Levy and his focus on metals companies further demonstrates the firm's overall commitment to the industrial sector. During the past year, the firm has committed significant resources to this area in investment banking, sales & trading, and research. With Mr. Levy, Jefferies now has 14 high yield research professionals, including seven senior analysts, covering aerospace, consumer products, energy exploration & production, food companies & restaurants, gaming, healthcare, home builders, industrials, metals, shipping, supermarkets, and telecommunications.
"Brett Levy has extensive experience in managing a high yield research department. He and Bob Welch will do an excellent job in assuming leadership of the firm's high yield research effort from Mark Neuner, who has done an outstanding job managing and growing the group since 1990," said David W. Schwartz, Director of High Yield Sales and Trading. "In addition, Brett's exceptional experience covering the metals sector, together with his extensive institutional relationships, further enhance Jefferies' strong high yield platform."
Mr. Levy has been a high yield analyst for over 17 years and has covered companies in the metals sector for more than 12. He has made the Institutional Investor analyst rankings eight times for his coverage of the metals sector, including six times as a Second Team All-American. Prior to Jefferies, Mr. Levy was a Managing Director and Head of High Yield Research at RBC Capital Markets for nearly four years. Previously, he held similar positions at Credit Suisse First Boston and BT Securities / BT Alex Brown. Mr. Levy received his masters degree at the M.I.T.
