Jefferies' Clients, Employees and Shareholders Contribute $5.25 Million (424 Million Yen) for Japan Relief Efforts

NEW YORK, TOKYO and LONDON, March 21, 2011 -- Jefferies announced today a total donation of $5.25 million to ten organizations providing immediate help to victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The firm's clients helped to generate $3.65 million in donations from global net equity trading revenue for March 16 and net trading revenues during the week of March 14-18 for Jefferies' Asian offices. Jefferies also contributed $1 million directly, and voluntary donations from the firm's 3,099 employee-partners totaled another $600,000.

Contributions will be immediately distributed and designated for urgent, on-the-ground relief efforts associated with the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and will be allocated to the following ten organizations:
